"He's gone too far. The crimes Henry committed are too great to be washed away by just one final good act," Ross Duffer shared.
One of the important factors that led people to think this way was the relationship between Will Byers and Vecna. Will, like Harry Potter with Voldemort, had a special connection with this enemy, as he could see Henry's memories.
This connection made Will realize that Vecna was also a victim of the Upside Down and the Mind Flayer. Although Will tried to convince Vecna to come over to his side, the villain remained loyal to his master, the Mind Flayer, and was determined to continue his dark path.
Allowing Vecna to die as a pure villain helps maintain the consistency of the storyline. Although there might still be a buried part of the innocent child within Henry, decades of accumulated hatred and violence transformed him into a true monster.
This was also clearly demonstrated in Vecna's final moments, when Jamie Campbell Bower's face conveyed complex emotions of internal conflict between guilt and the darkness that had consumed his soul.
