Which episode did Robin and Saul meet? The entire 22-year journey
Traumatic past in Ohara
Back in the Enies Lobby Arc, author Oda first depicted the dark childhood of the "demon child" Nico Robin through a tragic flashback from Anime episodes 275 to 278 (Manga chapters 391 - 398). On a cold beach, the 8-year-old girl coincidentally met former Vice Admiral Jaguar D. Saul.
The scene where Saul used his body to shield Robin from the devastating Buster Call has been deeply imprinted in the minds of many generations of readers. The moment he was struck down by Aokiji's Ice Age attack, still smiling "Dereshishishi" and teaching Robin how to be optimistic, was a truly emotional pause in the series.
The miracle named "The Man with the Burn Scars"
The question of whether Saul was still alive began to heat up when the Straw Hat Pirates arrived on the future island. The author cleverly revealed crucial information in Anime episode 1097 (adapted from Manga chapter 1066) through Dr. Vegapunk's narration.
Ohara's immense intellectual legacy was not buried in ash; it was salvaged by a group of giant warriors under the command of a character with burn scars — none other than Saul.
Robin's expression, shifting from shock to happy tears in this episode, is proof that the psychological pressure that had haunted her throughout her life was finally lifted.
The sensational reunion in Elbaf
The magnificent kingdom of Elbaf sets the stage for one of the most anticipated moments of 2026. The Straw Hat Pirates set foot in the giant library, leading to the historic reunion widely shared by fans in Anime episode 1163.
After a long 22 years in the story's timeline, Robin and Saul finally face each other again.
Robin's choked sob echoed: "Aren't you going to congratulate me for surviving, Uncle?" The giant's emotional embrace immediately became a major topic of discussion across Anime forums. This is the most complete answer to the question of which episode Robin meets Saul that viewers have been searching for.
Why did episode 1163 receive such high praise?
Not just a simple reunion scene, Toei Animation invested heavily to make episode 1163 a true cinematic experience. The studio evoked nostalgia by inviting back singer Maki Otsuki — the vocalist of the first Ending (Memories) in 1999 — to perform the interwoven song "Sekai wa Hitorijanakatta" (The World Is Not Lonely).
The most valuable visual detail lies in the decision to change Robin's appearance before the historic reunion. On the ship's deck, she asked Brook to cut her hair into the familiar blunt bangs from before the timeskip.
This nostalgic hairstyle completely reproduces the image of the young Ohara girl from back then, showing the deep respect and affection she holds for Jaguar D. Saul – her giant soulmate and savior.
Moreover, Oda's subtle storytelling was preserved. Immediately after Robin's emotional tears, Usopp appeared with his characteristic distorted crying face.
A detail reminiscent of his deep empathy for Robin since Enies Lobby helped the episode balance its rhythm smoothly, receiving countless positive reactions and perfect scores from the fan community on reputable forums like MyAnimeList.
The meaning of the legendary quote that saved the archaeologist's life
Nico Robin's life was once plunged into despair until she heard the classic dying words: "The ocean is vast... I'm sure one day, you'll find true companions who will protect you! No one is born into this world to be alone!"
At 30 years old, standing before her uncle from years ago, Robin finally proved Saul's words true. Behind her now is a formidable Straw Hat crew, ready to declare war on the whole world to protect their comrades.
Saul's prophecy not only physically saved Robin's life in Ohara but also saved her soul to this very day.
