Dr. Ratio is a 5-star character with the Fantasy system and a Hunting destiny. That means he has the ability to deal very strong single damage to the target, along with additional effects. So how to build Dr. Ratio most effectively to help the meme teacher maximize his strength?
Revealing Dr. Ratio's skill set
Dr. Ratio mainly deals Imaginary damage to a specific target. Although his special ability allows him to attack another enemy, unless you actively choose him, Dr. Ratio is still just a DPS character of the Hunting class. The way to build Dr. Ratio is not too complicated or has special requirements, unlike the two new characters in update 1.6, Ruan Mei and Xueyi, who require very high attack and damage stats.
Dr. Ratio's skills can be summed up in one sentence: "The more debuffs on the enemy, the stronger the next attack." He has a 40% chance to trigger a follow-up attack (FUA) every time he uses a skill, and each debuff on the enemy increases this chance by 20%. When the enemy has 3 debuffs, Dr. Ratio will definitely unleash a FUA when he uses a skill. This attack restores 5 energy and deals up to 270% damage at level 10, which is quite significant. Therefore, you need to use the skill continuously to maximize Dr. Ratio's damage to the enemy.
Additionally, Dr. Ratio is easy to build thanks to his powerful set of traces, which boosts the stats needed for DPS. Induction increases the crit stat whenever the target is hit with a debuff, which can stack up to 6 times, reaching 15% crit chance and 30% crit damage. Add in the 12% crit chance from other small traces and the 5% base, Dr. Ratio can easily reach 32% crit chance without special equipment.
Dr. Ratio's damage is also greatly increased by the Deduction skill, which increases damage by 30% to 50% depending on the number of debuffs on the enemy (activates when there are at least 3 debuffs). The additional 28% attack from small traces helps reduce the need for attack stats, keeping Dr. Ratio's DPS high even with a 4-star light cone.
If you have teammates who are good at debuffing, you only need to reach 68% critical rate from relics and light cones to ensure 100% critical rate and +50% damage for Dr. Ratio. This is not difficult, because there are currently many characters who are good at debuffing such as Silver Wolf, Pela, or Welt. Other teammates can be Topaz, Ruan Mei, Bronya, Huohuo, Luocha, etc. However, remember that Dr. Ratio needs to use combat skills continuously, so you should choose teammates who can generate SP points for the squad.
How to Build Dr. Ratio Correctly?
Many players may be torn between picking up Dr. Ratio’s 1st Soul or his 5-star Cone of Light. The 1st Soul increases the maximum stacks of Induction to 10 and provides 4 stacks at the start of the match, meaning Dr. Ratio will immediately gain 10% critical chance and 20% critical damage – a pretty big boost.
But don't decide yet! Check out the Pure Baptism Cone of Light. It increases critical damage by 44%, overall damage by 36%, and ignores enemy defense by 24%. These stats are much more beneficial than the 1 spirit, and it's easier to get. You know what to choose, right?
When building Dr. Ratio, you should prioritize maxing out talent and combat skills, then ultimate skills, and finally normal attacks.
Guide to building relics for Dr. Ratio
If nothing else changes, Honkai: Star Rail players will soon have a new set of relics dedicated to debuffs, with effects that increase damage, TLBK, and STBK on debuffed enemies. The relics will likely be released in patch 2.0 or 2.1, which is why you shouldn't put all your mining energy into farming relics for Dr. Ratio right now.
When choosing relics for Dr. Ratio, you should use critical vest, speed or attack boots, % Imaginary Number bridge (can choose % attack when going with Ruan Mei), and % attack or energy charging rope.
The current relic options for building Dr. Ratio are as follows:
- 4 Desert Savages: Increases Imaginary Damage, while also increasing Crit Rate (TLBK) and Crit Damage (STBK). This is the best choice right now, but its actual power compared to the new relic set is still unclear.
- 4x Outstanding Genius: This set is suitable when Dr. Ratio has a stun weapon, hits weak enemies with Quantum, or has Silver Wolf on the team. This set ignores 44% of the opponent's defense (20% from relics + 24% from stun weapons), very strong, enough to make up for the loss of the effect of the 2-piece set.
- 4x Prisoner of the Dungeon: This can be an unexpected but effective choice if Dr. Ratio is accompanied by Kafka with a weapon. Kafka will create 2 debuffs and 2 DOT effects, helping Dr. Ratio reduce the enemy's defense by an additional 12%.
- Mix 2+2 from Desert, Messenger, Prisoner, Grand Duke sets: This is a temporary solution, you can use it while waiting to farm better relics or new relic sets.
Accessories:
- Salsotto Stop Spin: Best choice for Dr. Ratio as it increases crit chance and buffs the follow-up attack, which is his main source of damage.
- Glamoth: If you're extremely lucky with the relic upgrade and have high enough speed (135/160), this set will greatly increase Dr. Ratio's DPS.
- Space Seal Station: Effective if you need to increase attack stats and have a "world class" relic or when going with Ruan Mei.
Build light cone for Dr. Ratio
- Pure Baptism: The best option because it helps Dr. Ratio's follow-up attacks ignore 24% of monster defense, along with the ability to buff up to 48% STBK.
- Star Sea Voyage: A 5-star item found in Herta's shop that is suitable for all Hunting characters, providing high ATK and attack. However, Seele, Topaz, and Sushang also need this item.
- Deep Sleep: Gives mainly STBK. The TLBK boosting effect is not too important because it has a short duration.
- Sword Discussion: Not so good for Dr. Ratio as he needs at least 3 turns to stack.
